In 2015, Snapchat users were introduced to one of the most iconic selfie features we know today: the filter. The “Rainbow Barfing” filter became an instant hit and ushered in a new era of unique selfies. Using digital facial mapping technology, any user was able to virtually “put on” these filters that conforms to the face perfectly and in real-time. But there’s more to facial mapping tech than just enhancing our selfies.
