Weight loss isn’t a simple equation. There are other factors that you have to take into account as well, including the internal and external influences that are standing between you and your goals. If you are ready to make a positive change, then simply look below.

Your Gut is Working Against You

There’s more and more research coming out by the year, and it shows how important it is for you to manage your microbiome. This is a collection of bacteria that is in your gut and it’s somewhat responsible for your weight loss journey. Taking probiotics or even prebiotics is a great way for you to reduce your BMI and fat mass.


Unfortunately, it’s just not possible for you to choose your body type or shape. Sometimes it doesn’t matter how hard you work because when it comes to weight, genetics matter quite a lot.  There is also a set weight at which your body is happy. It may be that you need a certain amount of calories a day in order to function, and that you need to exercise but suffer when you overdo it. Either way, you may never be a size 6 if you have large hips, and this isn’t anything to do with your weight. If you are able to accept this, then you will soon find that your weight loss journey becomes much easier.

You’re Losing Muscle

As you get older, your estrogen levels will dip, and this will cause you to lose muscle. You may find that your muscle mass decreases by around 5% every decade after you pass the age of 30. This is a huge deal because your muscles will be burning more calories when compared to fat. As you age you may find that you are much more likely to gain fat, and although you can’t control this, you can control your habits.  It may be that you need to adjust your diet or that you need to try and do more exercise. Having some comfortable jogging gear will help you out quite a lot here, so treat yourself to some heather gray joggers and invest in some comfortable trainers too.

Your Medicine Cabinet

Some medicines can cause you to gain weight. They may also get in the way when you start to make the effort to lose weight. If you are on insulin to treat diabetes or if you are on antidepressants, then this could be working against you. You may also find that you have water retention as well. This can cause you to gain weight, even though you are not gaining fat so make sure that you keep this in mind if at all possible as it will help you to make much better decisions when it comes to your weight loss regime.

Of course, losing weight can be difficult, but if you are willing to take the right steps then you’ll soon find that you are able to get the best result possible out of your efforts.
