The Internet can be a scary place and it is very possible for it to be a danger to you if you don’t know how to protect yourself.  Three major categories of potential threats are ransomware, vulnerabilities, and phishing.

Ransomware is our newest threat to our digital life, where hackers take large amounts of data and hold it hostage for money.  While it may not happen to the individual it is becoming increasingly common for corporations.

Knowing where your vulnerabilities are is very important to assessing your protection.  You need to know what data you have out there and where it is in order for you to protect it.  The final main threat is phishing.  This is the practice of sending email links or attachments in attempts to either attach a virus or consume your data.

All these three are variable threats, but knowing how to protect yourself is the key to being safe online.
