One year after COVID shut down the nation, let’s look back at some healthcare job trends that have emerged in healthcare…ones you wouldn’t have expected to go the way they went:
Telemedicine Isn’t Ready Yet
Telemedicine peaked early during the pandemic, but it's already back to pre-pandemic levels. Is this truly the age of telemedicine?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported a 154% increase in telehealth in 2020 when compared to the same period in 2019. However, as COVID cases started plateauing and declining, telehealth started to go back down. During June 26–November 6, 2020, 30.2% of weekly health center visits occurred via telehealth.
How Nurses Have Been Under Pressure
The healthcare system no doubt has been stressed, in some cases full and over capacity ICU units. What is the toll that it has taken on nursing demand? Apploi, a popular healthcare job platform, has reported that the top 5 job titles by clicks are all nursing related: Registered Nurse, Certified Nursing Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, and Licensed Practical Nurse.
