Recommerce, the buying and selling of pre-owned items, is a method of sale and procurement that may still be overlooked by some, but it has been trending upward for many years. The COVID pandemic also gave recommerce a boost as people found it a way to make extra cash from home, especially after layoffs.  Some have stepped up their game with e-commerce marketing as well.

You may not always see the monetary value of the things that have been sitting around your home forever, but the average American household actually has 36 items that could be resold for a total of $3,675. In Canada, that average number jumps to $5,660. Recommerce can be a great way to supplement income.

Yet, the most neglected aspect of recommerce is the fact that it’s actually quite good for the environment.  In fact, through recommerce on eBay, we’ve managed to conserve 720,000 metric tons of carbon emissions.

Recommerce is not only good for our wallets, but also for our planet.
