It’s pretty clear by now that the “new normal” is here to stay. The COVID pandemic has changed or affected virtually every aspect of our lives, not the least of which is the work we do and how we do it.

In 2020, as many businesses were forced to downsize or close their doors altogether, 2 million Americans began doing gig work for the first time ever. That means that the gig economy grew at a rate of 8.25x faster than the overall economy, at a total growth of 33%. There are now 55 million gig workers in the US, and economists expect that over half of all Americans will have at least dabbled in gig work within the next 6 years.

With the rise of home services, such as delivery, pet, cleaning, and computer services, it looks as though the gig economy is only going to increase for the foreseeable future.
