Your support is GREATLY appreciated!
Moving is never easy and can in fact at times be quite stressful. As if packing up everything you own and putting it in a truck and then unloading it wasn’t enough to think about, there are several other logistical things you’ll need to do when you move. You’ll be busy and have a lot on your mind, so here’s a list to help you remember what they are.
Hire Movers
Even if you don’t have a lot of stuff, hiring professional movers is totally worth it. They will be able to fit all of your belongings in one truck rather than you having to take several trips in your own car. Most moving companies also offer packing services so that all of your stuff is neatly organized into boxes and all breakables are protected.
Change Your Mailing Address
You likely get a lot of mail delivered to your home, whether it is bills, packages, bank accounts or tax information – just to name a few. Some of the mail you receive is very important and you don’t want to risk it getting to you late or not getting to you at all because you’ve moved to a new house. It’s critical that you have your mail forwarded. Make sure that in addition to filling out a change of mailing address form that you also call your bank, and anywhere else you regularly receive mail from to let them know you have moved.
Send Announcements To Friends And Family
Make sure to let all of your loved ones know you have moved so that they know where to send holiday cards or anything else they may want to mail to you. You can order inexpensive announcements or make them yourself for a more personal touch.
Downsize
Most people own way more material items than what they actually need. Moving is a fantastic time to take inventory of what you own and get rid of everything you no longer like or that doesn't serve you anymore. Allow your new home to be the start of a new, clutter-free chapter.
Research Schools
If you have children or plan on having them, make sure to research the schools in the surrounding area of your new home. If the school(s) you want them to attend is far away, make sure you take that into account so that you know what to expect when it comes to morning commutes.
Moving to a new place can be nerve-wracking, but it’s also a very exciting time that will bring positive changes to your life. Write down everything you need to do and once it’s all done enjoy your new home and pour yourself a glass of wine.
