Quality of life is entirely subjective, and often quite related to your circumstances. For instance, some people in the poorest countries find a way to find union with their family members. They work each day to provide for those they love. They try their hardest to deal with the hard circumstances, to the point where they take nothing for granted. Their lives are hard, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re unhappy. This doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be cared for and helped out either, it just means that, as is the very human effort, they don’t self-pity and, broadly, make the best of a bad situation. They could likely teach us a thing or two about understanding what priorities are the most important to cherish.

So – even if you haven’t led what you might call a charmed life, it’s important to understand that yes, you can improve your quality of life, too. In fact, we’d like to discuss some of the best three principles to help you understand that – as follows:

Don’t Assume The Worst

Don’t assume the worst of people. It’s the easiest thing in the world to do. We’re all great at figuring out just why someone is wrong, or why they might not be living according to your own criteria for acceptability. But these are just passing thoughts, and we must not engage with them. We can never truly know the depth of someone, and so assuming the worst is simply closing yourself off to keeping an open mind. And, with your open mind, you’ll no doubt be able to suss out an insincere or harmful person more easily to begin with.

Consider Walking In  Other’s Shoes Shoes

Consider walking in their shoes for a moment. This may even help you in the future. Speaking to your hard-of-hearing friend, asking them how they make use of subtitles, or how they drive, or how they manage their hearing aid, all of this can help you understand more about a condition and completely melt your ignorance. This improves your quality of life, because you can use these lessons to help you grow and expand as a person. Challenging ourselves is good. Asking questions is good. All of this can culminate in making you a more proactively intelligent person than you may wish to be. And of course, this can help you feel like a better person no matter what.

Enjoy The Little Things

If you can’t enjoy the little things in life, you’ll never appreciate the big things, not really. The taste of an apple, the smell of flowers, a cool breeze in the morning, that first sip of coffee, laughing with a friend, listening to a song that inspires you, taking a walk even if you don’t feel like it, petting your dog, forgiving yourself, little things like this make up the content of our lives, and they are beautiful. Try to focus on them. See how they make you feel, and how they nourish you. If you can do that – well you’ll have learned quite an amazing secret about what’s really important in life.

With this advice, we hope you can improve your quality of life in the best possible sense.
