The coronavirus is still among us, despite the fact that many of us are beginning to get back to our normal lives. The people most vulnerable are the elderly, people with compromised immune systems, and those who live in close proximity to one another. Unfortunately those living in nursing homes tend to check all of those boxes, which has meant COVID-19 has ravaged those populations. What if new breakthroughs in early detection could prevent the spread?

Currently, testing and temperature checks are the only way to determine whether someone has COVID-19. Unfortunately tests still take a good amount of time to come back, while temperature checks are only effective if someone is already starting to show symptoms.

A new breakthrough in nursing home monitoring was able to show a correlation between drops in pulse oxygen and early onset of COVID-19. Early detection gives these facilities the opportunity to evacuate and isolate to stop the spread.
