Christmas is fast approaching and with that comes the idea of taking some time away from your business to enjoy quality time with family and friends. The Christmas food, the drinks will be flowing and the conversations will be about anything other than business. However, you need to ensure that you can really relax over the festive break, and part of that would be to ensure that your business is safe and secure during your absence. You still will have stock there perhaps, computers and technology to think about, and as Christmas is the ideal time for criminals to take advantage of these situations, it is worth preparing early to ensure that your business is safe and secure during this time and beyond. With that in mind, here are some of the things to think about.
Think about the access to your business premises
One of your main security breaches would be the access to your business premises. Maybe you have a car park, or a surrounding lawned area or access. This is when you may want to think about putting up a fencing perimeter. However, if that isn’t an option perhaps something more simple like parking posts could be more suitable. Often the simplest of security features can end up being the most successful. If you can stop the initial access for things like vehicles, then you may be at less of a risk of having your business targeted for theft or other crimes. Of course, fencing might not always be an option, so thinking outside of the box at smaller more discreet security features could be the way forward.
Maybe a security guard could be a viable option
You may want to think about having a security guard in place, especially if you have things of great value being stored in your premises. It could be that you look into hiring Ranger Armed Guards to help with security for the festive period. This works especially well for businesses who work out of warehouse locations where not only is theft an option, but petty crime such as vandalism or even people just trying to get into the warehouse could be something you want to avoid.
Would it be best to install a new alarm system or security cameras?
A new alarm system and security cameras should be a permanent fixture for your business and most small or larger corporations will have some security features in place. However, if you haven't had anything new installed for a while then it may be worth your investment to have something installed, especially at this time of year. However, if you feel the security system you already have in place is more than adequate, then perhaps having a routine maintenance check done could help to put your mind at ease.
Don’t have anything on display through windows
Many business locations will have windows and large doors to let natural light in throughout the day, but this could also be your downfall if you happen to have things on display. For example, expensive computer equipment on show could entice a thief to try and take the opportunity for a quick theft. If the business is going to be absent for a few days, take time to keep things out of display, or at least draw blinds and curtains to cover things up.
Let’s hope that these suggestions help you keep your business secure during the festive period.
