There is skills such as emotional intelligence and empathy that no everyone can master which can propel your career and life to staggering heights. With the evolving workplace, these skills are in the demand more than ever.

Coding

It the digital era, basic coding skills are essential knowledge for everyone who wants to keep up and reap rewards from the ever changing technological landscape. Programming is not only about knowing HTML, Java and Python, it’s a way of thinking that allows developers to see things outside of the box and find solutions to problems facing the world.

Knowing how to develop ideas into a website, application or algorithm is a very important trait in today’s world.

A new language

Some of the most successful people in the world are multilingual. Being fluent in more than one languages opens many doors for jobs and business and makes you an interesting conversationalist.

Besides being able to communicate with more people, a new language introduces you to an otherwise new culture and makes you more open-minded.

Listening

Every can talk but only the best communicators can listen. Listen can be a difficult skill to learn, what with all the opinions you want the world to share.

Learning to listen to other people without thinking of smart ways to reply and counter their arguments will pay off in the long run.

Emotional intelligence

In today’s world where people are more concerned about what’s in it for themselves, emotional intelligence, abbreviated as EQ, is what separates the true leaders from the followers.

EQ is the ability to understand the emotional impact of your words and deeds on other people and use it to your advantage to forge the best relationships in both your personal and professional life.

You can earn a lot of money (View Salary) but you will become respected and influential once you master emotional intelligence.

Closely tied to EQ is empathy. Empathy teaches you treat other people how you would want to be treated.

Time management

There is so much to do and little time to do all of them. Time management helps prioritise your activities and lessens the amount of time you waste on decision making.

Spending a lot of time weighing one decision against the other results in decision fatigue and time wastage making you have even less time for the things that matter.

It is therefore important to plan your time such neither you professional or family life suffers. This comes from prioritizing the stuff that matters and eliminating time wasting activities from your schedule.

Learning the cost of your time could change the way you spend your time. If, for instance, you earn $40 per hour, then it makes better sense to delegate your grocery shopping for $10 than make a drive to the grocery store.
