As a society, we build celebrities up into these huge unachievable ideas of what a person should be and expect them to be perfect because we gave them the fame they enjoy. However, what we all need to learn is that celebrities, regardless of their designer clothes, million dollar mansions, and huge bank accounts, are people too, and people make mistakes every single day. Charlie Sheen
When most people think of controversial celebrities, their minds immediately go to Charlie Sheen. Charlie Sheen is an incredibly talented actor, but he’s one with a lot of problems, that have resulted in a number of controversies, including substance abuse and aggressive behavior. Most recently, he was in headlines due to his HIV-positive diagnosis, which he kept to himself for several years.
Kathy Griffin
Comedian Kathy Griffin has been involved in a number of controversies, but there’s only one that most people know about – Her Donald Trump picture. Back in May last year, Kathy posed for a photograph with a bloodied head. While this would be controversial at the best times, it was made worse by the fact that the head appeared to be The President, which resulted in a string of tweets from him and The First Lady. Griffin has since lost her job with CNN.

Speaking of Donald Trump, you couldn’t have a list of controversial celebrities without mentioning the man himself. President Trump has been involved in many a controversy in his time, including his attack on Angela Merkel, and his comments about Hillary Clinton, immigration, women, and climate change. Donald Trump has literally split the world in two, with half of the population hating him and half loving him.
Kanye West
President Trump’s most recent ally, Kanye West, is no stranger to the odd controversy himself. In fact, he seems to constantly be in the news for one drama or another. Most recently, he’s been criticised for his statements on slavery, where he referred to it as “a choice”. He’s also divided opinions by marrying Kim Kardashian, comparing himself to Jesus, and by interrupting Taylor Swift’s VMA acceptance speech.

Kim Kardashian, along with the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, is constantly being criticised for the things that she does. Her oldest and most notable controversy is the tape that was leaked, which helped her rise to fame and become a household name. However, her recent risque uploads to Instagram have resulted in a fresh wave of complaints, with people all over claiming that she wouldn’t be successful without her body.
Celebrities are people just like us, and like us, they’re never going to please everybody. However, there are a few, like the ones on this list, which manage to cause a little bit more drama than most, and split public opinion right down the middle.
