Make Your Online Business Appear More Professional

Building an online business quite often means starting from the beginning with few if any staff to help you and that can mean that your web copy and web design logos and emails are pretty basic when you first get started. It kinda has to be that way when you’re juggling so many different balls. However, once your business is up and running, it is important that you take steps to make your business appear more professional. Why? Because if an online business doesn’t seem to be professional, people will be hesitant to buy its products or use its services.

With that in mind, here are some of the most simple things you can fo to clean up your business and make it a bit more professional:

Hire a Professional Web Designer

If you are not a professional web designer, stop trying to be one. Few things matter more to the average online business than the state of their websites, and even if yours looks okay and functions well enough, you have to ask yourself if the basic job you’ve done is enough to convince people to buy. If it is on the basic end and if it isn’t clean, easy to navigate and optimized for mobile, chances are it will be turning people off. So, bite the bullet and hire a web designer.

Get a Dedicated Business Address and Phone Number

Having a professional business address and phone number – that isn’t your home address- on your website instantly lends it more credibility. So, even if you are still running your business from your spare room, you should look into getting a virtual business address and phone number or using Google Voice to set up a dedicated business line. If visitors don’t see this basic business information on your site, they are likely to get suspicious as to its authenticity.

Ensure Your Emails All Look the Same

If you want people to trust the correspondence they receive in their inboxes, then you need to get your company’s document anarchy solved. What is document anarchy? It is when you and any staff you may be employing create and send out emails and other documents like reports and invoices which are all different. When a standard template is not used, it can make a company look sloppy and confuse the recipient as to its authenticity if it doesn’t look like the last email they received. Good document anarchy solutions allow employees to access templates and add standard email signatures remotely wherever they are working so that this is no longer an issue.

Ensure You’re Using a Business Email Account

On the subject of emails, it is also important that you don’t use a Gmail, Yahoo or any other mail provider account when sending messages to customers. You should have an email address with is yourname@yourdomain if you want to appear more professional and increase confidence in your company.

All of these ideas are easy to implement, and they will make more difference than you might imagine, convincing more people that you are the professional operation you know yourself to be.
