Google Play Music

Google Play Music is the app that hosts almost 36 million songs, the most of any other such application out there.  Apart from the huge playlist it offers, there are several integrations possible with Android phones and a free subscription to YouTube Red. YouTube Red is the add-free version of YouTube that was launched by Google a few months back. It has very intuitive playlists like:

  • Family Time
  • Relaxing at home
  • Sunday Lunch
  • On the road

The application can run in the background making it perfect for the times when you want to listen to good music but also use your phone to send an email. And maybes the best feature is the activity-based playlists it offers, giving you just the right music for cleaning the house or a road trip and all that for just €.4.99/month.

Apple Music

Apple Music joined the chart of music streaming apps in 2015 and it quickly became one of the best such application there is. With a slightly smaller playlist database of “only” 30 million songs, the app also offers 24/7 live radio and the possibility to upload your own music. A war between Google Play Music and Apple Music was inevitable among enthusiast since the two brands just seem to be the perfect recipe for disagreement of users. You can get the Apple Music app for $4.99/month as well but it has fewer features than what Google has to offer at the same price.

Spotify

Extremely popular in the United States, Spotify might just be the most-used music streaming application in the world. Featuring 30 million songs in the library with curated playlists and a built-in discovery tool, you can say it has it all. When you add the fact that it also offers video content and podcasts, you definitely said it all. It will cost you $9.99 but it really makes up for that money in terms of library and features.

SoundCloud

SoundCloud is the kind of music streaming app that your parents won’t invite home for dinner. Even though it has over 125 million songs available and for years it has been used by hundreds of millions of people, there’s still something about SoundCloud. Maybe because for years in a row it was the home of independent artists, which is totally awesome, it got this etiquette of non-top-3 material but it is a really good streaming app.

Pandora

Pandora is another one of the most used streaming apps in the world right now even though it has a library of about one million songs. The best feature of Pandora is that it is compatible with any platform and that made it very easy to be spread.

You can even have Pandora on some standard media systems on your car. It has limited features like thumbs up or down and skipping tracks, which is also available in the free version but only a limited number of skips. It is available for 4.99/month and looks like it is totally worth it.
