“Maker Week” is back to help celebrate the Maker community as it prepares for Maker Faire Bay Area 2017, the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth. During May 15-21, local Makers, Makers in town for the Faire, and Maker Movement supporters will have the chance to participate in meetups, networking events, workshops, parties, and more to share the Maker spirit, create new opportunities for themselves and their organizations, and advance their skills and knowledge. Maker Week finishes off with Maker Faire Bay Area on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, May 19, 20, and 21, 2017. Makers can find a list of Maker Week happenings at http://makerfaire.com/bay-area/maker-week/ and organizations looking to invite Makers to their events can submit the events via that page as well.
“Maker Faire is celebrating its 12th year in the Bay Area, which is where it all started,” said Sherry Huss, co-founder of Maker Faire and vice president of Maker Media. “We’ll have over 1,300 Makers from all over the world ready to share their projects with attendees from almost all 50 states and many countries across the globe. It’s exciting to bring all of these Makers together during Maker Week when we have the largest gathering of Makers in the world coming together for the Faire. Maker Week is a natural extension of Maker Faire and it gives the Maker community an occasion to salute the core values of the Maker Movement—ingenuity, creativity, open source culture, and a DIY spirit.”
