5 Great New Year Resolutions

The New Year is a time to create new goals for yourself that improve your quality of life and push yourself to the best version of yourself possible. These goals we create for ourselves at the beginning of each new year are called resolutions.

Although many of us are notorious for creating these so-called resolutions then promptly either forgetting about them or ignoring them all together, with a vision and a calendar of action, it’s possible to stay persistent and achieve your goals.

Instead of choosing broad goals like “become the best person I can be,” opt for something much more specific that can yield tangible results.  Set realistic goals that you can achieve within a year.  Obviously, something like the goal of becoming president isn’t going to happen in just one year.

Here are some ideas for useful, and realistic New Year resolutions that will transform your life.

Pay Your Debts

If you have any amount of debt at all, even as little as $500, make it your priority to get rid of it.  Interest builds on top of interest, and before you know it, you’re in over your head and gasping for air.

If your credit debt is on the higher end, and you don’t know where to start, consider a credit repair service.  Professionals can guide you through a consolidation plan, and ease you through a step by step solution of getting rid of your debt for good.

Start Working Out

By changing our physical habits to just 30 minutes a day of continuous exercise, we can increase our life expectancy by as much as 10 years.

30 minutes of exercise doesn’t have to be high impact or strenuous.  Something as simple as taking your dog for a walk after work is sufficient.

Integrate this into your life and watch your body and mind transform.

Deep Clean Your House

Your house is a reflection of your mental state.  Piles of junk in your closets equal piles of junk in your mind.

Write down a list of all of the parts of your house that are messy or disorganized and work on this area for 2 hours a week.  This way you won’t feel overwhelmed all at once by working in a slow concerted effort.

Cut Back On Alcohol

Alcohol increases mood swings, appetite, poor financial choices, and can lead to poor liver and cardiovascular health.

Opt to make a pact to yourself to only drink on holidays, and keep it under 5 times a year.  You will find your life drastically improve.

Call Your Family More

Many people admit that they don’t call their immediate family nearly enough, and it’s something they would like to change.  Rather than wanting to do something and not doing it, make it a priority to make it happen!

Make a goal to call a family member once a week for 30 minutes.  This is a small amount of time that will mean years of sentimental value.
