Do you read nutrition labels? Even if you do read them, chances are you aren’t reading them right. For starters, if you ignore the serving size whatever information you are getting simply isn’t accurate. It’s important to get the right balance of nutrients- not too much of things like calories or fat and plenty of things like vitamins and minerals and fiber. It isn’t always easy- most packaged foods are heavy on the fat and calories while being light on the nutrients you need most. You’ll need the best calorie tracker apps to keep up.

Genetically Modified Organisms, or GMOs, are something else you should probably be looking out for, though they aren’t always listed on the label. Over 80% of packaged foods in the United States contain GMOs, though laws about labeling them don’t exist in most states. Whether or not they are safe is the subject of constant debate, though many people believe they haven’t been around long enough to be studied in the long term for safety, especially as it pertains to the environment.
