Don’t let spring slip away without doing something both fun and entertaining with your family, that can also pass as educational. You may be surprised to know that it really is that difficult to find educational things to do with an entire family.

Instead of letting your kids spend spring break sitting at home playing their video games, get them out and let them learn something new. Here are a few fun and educational things that you can do that your whole family will enjoy.

Go To The Zoo

One fun and educational thing that is great for the whole family is a visit to the zoo. Don’t just go and look at the animals though, take some time to learn about them and discuss them with your children. Look at their habitats, talk about what they would look like, and what they would eat in the wild.

Take a camera with you and take photos so that you can further discuss the animals when you’re back at home. You may find yourself raising a future zookeeper, veterinarian, or something else that works with animals.

Visit A Museum Or Gallery

Museums are excellent places for learning. There are many different types of museums, so you have all different types of learning opportunities. For younger children, your best bet is to take them to a museum specific for children. This way they stay interested and have fun.

Older children may enjoy history museums and even art museums. Older children can also learn a lot from a visit to an art gallery, like Park West Gallery, where they can learn more about modern art as well.

Take A Hike

Going to the local park or taking a hike in the woods or forest, can also be an educational experience. If you don’t know much about your local flora and fauna, purchase some books on the subjects so that you can learn right along with your children.

As you walk, point out different bugs, animals, birds, trees, and plants. You can also spend time talking about how people have built things from trees, what it is like to live in the great outdoors, and even talk about surviving in the woods with older children.

If you have the ability, you could also take your family camping, and do some of the same things you would on a hike. This is a great way to get a feel of living in the wild, and your children will enjoy the adventure.

Getting out and learning things during spring break can be a great way to motivate your child’s learning and creativity. Let them collect souvenirs to share when they get back to school that can also help them remember all of the adventures you had together.
