Progressive technology, especially in the medical field, is creating all sorts of opportunities for people to live better lives in the modern age. Doctors, engineers, designers, and forward thinkers are taking problems, breaking them down into the smallest parts possible, and then taking on the challenges that they present.

Specifically, five categories that are vastly improved in the last short amount of time include better ways to perform brain surgery, improved understanding and design of prosthetics, groundbreaking genetic research, wearable technology for data collection, and advances in technology to allow people to repair hearing and sight impairments.

Brain Surgery

The brain is the center of the human experience, so when something physical goes wrong or needs fixing, surgery is the answer, but so much can go wrong with invasive type surgery. That's why some people are trying to advance the science to the point where brain surgery is less invasive than ever before, which leads to high success rates, and far faster healing for the patient. The smaller and more precise the tools and techniques get, the more readily people will trust that this is the future of head trauma surgery.

Prosthetics

There has been a lot of attention on prosthetics in the last several years because of the damage the war has done to people. The types of explosive devices used in combat, combined with better immediate care of people injured means that there are many limbs missing from soldiers. To combat these tragedies, medical technology has drastically improved prosthetic potential so that different types of custom attachments can now almost be used to the extent of actual limbs. With robotic technology and 3D printing capability, the science has come a long way.

Genetic Research

Advances in genetic research have also done much to improve medical capabilities for modern mankind. Genetic markers can show all kinds of data for individual people, from physical capabilities and disabilities, to showing predispositions to certain types of diseases or conditions. And the tech is just in its infancy, which is why the future is exciting for this realm.

Wearable Technology

And though wearable technology currently is more in the beta stages for helping athletes determine body motion mechanics, the same technology could potentially be used in all different types of physical therapy scenarios, which will improve the lives of countless people who use that potential to their advantage.

Hearing and Sight Advancements

And finally, progressive technology is moving toward giving deaf people their hearing, and blind people their sight. Though the conditions for different types of surgeries and operations are variable, there have been successful cases that allow people to use these senses in ways that were not possible before!
