There are multiple ways to drink vodka – as a shot, in a Screwdriver, with soda, as a martini. Not only is it versatile in the drinking realm, it also can be utilized for a multitude of other purposes outside the bar. You probably never thought of it besides being an alcoholic beverage but the following different ways to use vodka will forever change the way you think of the good ol’ clear stuff.

Insect Repellent

Forget about Off! Vodka is your new bug spray. Believe it or not, vodka works as a natural repellent for annoying insects. Pour some in a spray bottle along with apple cider vinegar and squirt on pesky fruit flies or on yourself so mosquitos stay away!

Washing Dishes

You have the bottle in the kitchen anyways, so why not use it to improve the dish-washing process? Add a spoonful of vodka to dish soap—it helps break through grease and ensures no streaks on glassware.

Astringent

If you ever thought your face astringent smelled like alcohol, it’s probably because it was. Vodka can act as your makeshift astringent to clean pores and kill any unwanted bacteria that lies on your moneymaker. Make sure to moisturize after though because it does dry out skin if you don’t.

Hair Care

Shiny hair, do care! For lush locks throw a healthy dose of vodka into a shampoo bottle for healthier hair. Vodka can help alleviate an itchy scalp and reduce dandruff as well. Use the vodka-laced shampoo in moderation though because if it’s used too frequently it can dry natural oils that are good for the scalp.

Vodka Sauce

You don’t only need to drink vodka to enjoy it—you can also cook with it and eat it. Try making vodka sauce the next time you have pasta night. It’s simple to make. Start by sautéing garlic and onions then pour vodka into the saucepan. Once it reduces stir in tomato puree and heavy cream. And Viola! You have delicious vodka sauce to accompany awaiting noodles.

Cleaning

Vodka works as a cleaning solution that helps remove rust and build-up on multiple surfaces. Instead of using chemical solutions, fill a spray bottle with vodka and spray on mold or stains. Let it sit for 15 minutes and wipe away! Vodka can also be used to shine glass, chrome and porcelain fixtures.

Sting Soother

When you’re on vacation or coastal living, jellyfish can be very prevalent. The unfortunate possibility of getting stung is inevitable and there aren’t many ways to sooth the pain should it happen. Vodka, aside from helping you forget about the pain when imbibed, can also sooth the actual sting. Keep this fact in the back of your head and use it in times of emergency when the jellyfish strikes.

Best Martini

With so many ways to use vodka outside of drinking, you may want to cheers to that with the original form it was intended for. Make the best martini – grab a bottle of Ketel One Vodka, stir with ice and strain into a martini glass. You can of course add vermouth and olives to taste. Don’t forget to garnish with a lemon twist to keep it classy.
