Are you a motorcycle enthusiast? Is there nothing better to you than getting on your motorcycle and going for a ride as you see the sights, smell the fresh air, and feel the sun on your skin after shopping for gear on the Motochanic website? Then you probably spend a lot of your time researching motorcycles, reading about riding, and maybe even watching movies about bikers and road trips on motorcycles.
If that’s the case, check out the list below of the top five biker films. Have you seen all of these? Are there any that you’re interested in seeing for the first time?
1. 12 O’Clock Boys
This is a newer biker flick because it was released in 2014, but it’s still a great choice for those who love to ride. It’s the documentary story of a young man named Pug who really wants to become a part of Baltimore’s famous motorcycle gang known as the 12 O’Clock Boys. What makes this film really interesting is the fact that it actually provides a window into the motorcycle subculture that a lot of people know nothing about. And it’s also interesting to see a motorcycle gang that doesn’t wear the stereotypical leather jacket, drive a Harley-Davidson bike, or have a beard.
2. Hell Ride
This modern movie is closely based upon classic motorcycle gang movies of the ’60s and ’70s, and if you like Quentin Tarantino, you’ll be happy to know that this movie was a collaboration between him and Larry Bishop. The story follows a motorcycle gang that seeks revenge after one of its members is killed.
3. On Any Sunday, the Next Chapter
This film was released in 1971 and quickly became one of the most beloved motorcycle films ever. It was directed by Bruce Brown, who was also famous for the film Endless Summer, which was about surfing. Why is this movie so popular? Well, it does a fantastic job of really capturing the spirit of riding a motorcycle, and it does so in a manner that even those who don’t ride will completely understand. As a result of just how great it was, it received an Academy Award nomination, too.
4. The Wild One
Starring Marlon Brando, this is considered the original biker film, so it is definitely a must-see for all serious bikers. It gives you the story of Johnny and his gang of biker misfits who invade a town after they are kicked out of a motorcycle competition.
5. Hells Angels on Wheels
Many people consider this movie a personal favorite because it is centered around the story of a gas station attendant whose name is Poet. This character, who is played by Jack Nicholson, ends up having to deal with a biker gang that passes through town. This movie helped launch Nicholson’s career in Hollywood, so if you’re a fan, you should definitely watch it.
Remember, there are many more iconic biker films that have been released throughout the years, but these are just five that come highly recommended and are beloved by avid bikers.
