Rearranging Living Arrangements [Infographic]

People are living with their parents longer these days than they were 40 years ago.  There are a lot of reasons for this, and probably the biggest of them is financial.  Millennials are graduating college with massive debt, unable to find jobs that pay well enough for both rent and loan repayment, so back to mom and dad’s house they go.  But hey, at least mom held on to your lava lamp and you no longer have a 10 p.m. curfew!

More people are living alone than ever before- approaching 15%, nearly double from 40 years ago.  More people are also living with domestic partners, which was almost unheard of 40 years ago.  People love their independence, but they are putting it off for longer and possibly getting less of it due to financial reasons.  Even more elderly people are having to move in with their children later in life, as well.  Learn more about the shifting living arrangements in American homes from this infographic!
