For some people, biking to work can be a harrowing experience. You have to share lanes with speeding traffic, and once you arrive at your destination you have to drag your bicycle inside with you because there’s no place to chain it up.

It doesn’t have to be that way. More and more, cities are improving bicycle infrastructure to encourage people to ride their bikes. More bicycle commuters means cleaner air, less traffic, and a healthier population. What’s not to love?

Infrastructure improvements can include bike lanes, bike sharing programs, and bike racks. But which cities are doing it best?
