Rightfully so, the tech sectors in areas like Silicon Valley, San Francisco, Austin and Boston generate tons of buzz. But what about tech places that aren’t as buzz-worthy yet? Many of these places are just ready to explode onto the tech scene. So, which areas could be the next Silicon Valley?
Believe it or not, “Sin City” just might be the answer. The VegasTechFund has earmarked $50 million for investment in local tech startups. Some of the area’s established superstars include LaunchKey, OrderWithMe.com, Tech Cocktail and Zirtual. “Silicon Harbor,” Charleston, South Carolina, could also be the next Silicon Valley. Under30CEO.com ranked Charleston among the best small cities for entreprenuers last year, in part because of its substantial growth in information technology jobs. The $5 million Silicon Harbor Ventures investment fund launched in early 2014.
