From CPU to Cloud [Infographic]

Since the earliest days of computing, CPUs have always been a piece that keeps growing and expanding. Clock speed and front side bus technology were growing every year and with each new release came with new features and capabilities.

Since the release of the Original Intel Pentium with a clock speed of 60 MHz, new and updated launches came almost annually. Until 2001 rolled around and with it came X86 server virtualization. VMware and other technologies allowed multiple operating systems to be run on a single CPU. This revolutionized the old model of one server, one application and opened up a channel for higher productivity and eliminated under-utilized resources.

Don’t just take our word for it, though. Take a look at this infographic for a look at how far we’ve come with the CPU. Let us know what you think in the comments and don’t forget to like and share.
