One Reason to Go Dark: Tint Your Windows to Keep Your Ride Cooler

Window tinting is a trend that’s never gotten old. It gives drivers and passengers more privacy and increases the value of the car.

The paparazzi despise it because it’s a tell-tale sign that someone (perhaps a celebrity?) has put a bit more time, effort, and money into the ride after it rolled off the factory assembly line. However, tinting windows also carries another perk that most people don’t consider: It blocks UV rays.

Blocking UV rays does two things. First, it keeps the ride cooler because sun rays can’t get inside and heat up your space like a little toaster oven. It also blocks some of those harmful UV rays that cause sun damage, early aging, and pesky wrinkles.

If you’re not religious about putting on sunscreen every day, you’re probably aging faster than you should (especially on the left side of your face).

To tint or not to tint?

While tinting windows is a luxury addition to your ride, the price is quite budget-friendly. However, you shouldn’t go with the lowest quote alone.

Not all tints are created equal, and if quality materials aren’t used or the expertise isn’t there, crinkling and cracking can occur. Nothing looks tackier than a tint gone wrong.

Instead, select a reputable company that’s been around the block a few times (literally!) and has an outstanding reputation. When done correctly, tints can last forever, and this is a one-time investment that will never go out of style.

Protect your skin, keep your car cool, and make your ride look better all for a low price.

Why keeping your cool matters

It’s not just comfort that’s involved when it comes to keeping your vehicle cooler. Running the A/C has an impact on the environment, especially if you have an outdated cooling system. It can also go through the gas a little faster.

Even if the recent high gas prices have fallen a bit, everyone could cut a few corners by keeping the cooling system on low … or completely off.

Finally, tinting is fast: the job requires very little downtime. The only no-no is rolling down your windows for 24 hours after the job gets done, which should be no problem at all, now that your car is cooler.

Just avoid those fast-food, drive-through windows and you’ll be golden. A professional company can improve many aspects of your driving experience with this service, so why wait?
