The Psychology of Attraction [Infographic]

They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but there is actually a lot more to it than just personal opinion. In things that are generally considered beautiful there is a common denominator. With the right combination of color and shape, certian things just stand out to our brains.

Scientists have found that symmetry catches and holds our attention. From painting, to flowers, to pieces of music, the basic foundations of symmetry are considered beautiful. Especially in human faces, the more symmetric it is the more subconsciously we are attracted to it. The symmetry of a face is believed to reflect a healthy immune system, robust genes and generally good health.

Colors are the most recognizable features in our everyday lives and the system of processing these colors in our brains is complex. Red, calling our attention most, is used for alerts, stop signs and traffic lights. Blue and green have a calming and therapeutic nature, associated with relaxation and are a favorite for spas and salons everywhere.
