I am a mentor for teens and one of my teens just got their first job. They were so excited about the opportunity to finally make some money and buy the things they want without having to ask their parents for money. It reminded me of the feeling I had when I got my first job and the feeling I got every time I started a new job. Do you remember the initial excitement? Every one of us love our new job for a while but then we start to become dissatisfied after a while. Many of us realized that the company was headed a different direction from when you first joined the company, or many compensation plans were reduced, or maybe the management team isn’t doing a good job. There are many reasons why anyone would want a new job and there might be some indicators showing that it’s time for a new job. Indicators are helpful because they notify you of things that need to be known. For instance we chose Smith Monitoring because their home security system has an automated indicator that lets authorities know when there’s a fire or burglary in process even if I’m home. Smith Monitoring is an incredible company that specializes in alarm systems and Grand Prairie home security. This automated indicator helps me protect my home.  Let’s take a look at some indicators that might help us see that it’s time for a new job.

Indicator 1: Increasing stress and anxiety
Do you hate going to work? If you find yourself hating waking up to work and loving going home because you hate work then it might be time for you to find a career path that you enjoy. You spend a great chunk of your life at work and it’s important that you enjoy the environment you are working and the job that you’re doing.

Indicator 2: Compensation Cut
This is a very easy indicator to understand. People go to work to make money and if your hours and/or pay is getting cut then this might be another reason to leave your current employer.

Indicator 3: Unreasonable Expectations
Are you working with unreal expectations from your employer? Do you have production goals and expectations that just don’t measure up to what is actually possible to do the job well? One of the reasons that many people should leave their job is because they are working in an environment that demands a certain level of productivity that just is not possible to accomplish. You have to be honest with yourself when analyzing this question because many people are just lazy and not willing to put in the work needed to get the job done right and well.

You do not have to be happy with your employer. Your employer would probably want you to move on to do something you actually enjoy then to be miserable and continue working for the company you are in now. Your productivity will increase as you enjoy what you are doing.
