Once you’ve looked at your own life, and what you want from your future, and you’ve determined that she is it, you’ve next got to figure out if she is on the same page you are.  If marriage and a future aren’t things that you’ve talked about openly, and you’re hoping to open up the conversation, there are a few things you can watch for to give you an idea of how she is feeling and what she is thinking.  Contrary to popular belief, not all women want to settle down and get married quickly. There are however some tell-tale signs that indicate she has been thinking about getting engaged and has her eye on a rock.

1. She Seems To Be At Peace In The Relationship

She’s not going to be too excited about settling down and having your babies if all of her friends are still out hitting the club scene every weekend.  If it seems that everyone around her is getting married and enjoying the domestic life, she’s more likely to yearn for the same things.  While open communication is the best way to find out how she feels, you should also pay attention to what phase she is in in her life, and what her goals are for the future.

2. She Makes Wedding And Future References

Once you start thinking of her in terms of forever, you’ll notice how many times you slip and mention comments about the future when she’s around.  If she is constantly making references to your wedding, your children, or your future together, she’s likely thinking the same thing.  If you’ve already picked out the name of your firstborn and where you want to retire, chances are good she’s got diamonds and engagement rings on the brain just like you do.

3. She Has Proven To Be Loyal

Within dating relationships, there is often drama.  Relationships will always have hang-ups and arguments, and you may even break up a time or two for something you feel is important.  If your relationship seems to be on a roller coaster, and you can’t seem to figure out where you stand most of the time, she’s probably not ready to settle down.  She may need some time to mature and learn how to communicate effectively, and if you’re ready for something more, it may be time to move on.  If you still feel she’s the one, have an open conversation about how to stabilize your relationship, and how to make you both feel more secure about how the other person feels.

4. She Has Let Go Of The Past

You’ve probably got that old girlfriend that you used to think about, the one you hope to run into with a beautiful new girl on your arm.  Once you find the one you want to marry, this desire will quickly run out the door. Watch how she talks about the past if you’re trying to determine how she feels.  If she still seems hung up on old relationships, she may not be ready for something serious.

5. She Just Feels Right

There is no advice that can make up for your own personal insight into your relationship.  The best approach when you are wondering how she feels is to be open and honest with her, and simply ask her.  You may risk getting your heart broken, but you’ll also have the chance at something great.

Most women have been looking forward to this time in their life. Believe it or not, many women have been planning out their weddings before boys even noticed them. It's up to you to make the move and take the relationship to the next level with an engagement ring. The five signs mentioned above are a pretty clear indication that she is ready to take the plunge. Are you ready to take a knee?
