Smartphones and Society [Infographic]

The abundance of smartphones across the U.S. has drastically changed the way that we live. For instance, there is a thing called a “smartphonatic.” This term is reserved for those of us who have changed shopping, banking, and payment behavior since switching to a smartphone. Twenty percent of smartphone users are smartphonatics.

On top of this, technology has been found to be addictive. Stimulation from cell phones, television and video games can trigger responses much like drugs and alcohol can.

The need to be constantly attached to the phone is one that has permeated through all parts of life. Twenty-four percent of smartphone users check their phone while driving, 39% use them from the bathroom, 48% use their phones at the gym and a whopping 80% of smartphone users check their phones within 15 minutes of waking up.
