On my birthday weekend my kids decided to take me to see the new movie “After Earth” starring Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith.
This was actually a movie that I wanted to see so that I can witness the dynamic of the father son relationship in this movie. The two did extremely well in my opinion.
I could not help but put my son and me in this situation and ask myself “What I would do?” My children are the most important people in my life and I was able to relate to this movie in the that sense it made me think/… “What choices would I make to help my child to grow and still protect him at the same time?”
It was though I could feel every emotion and all the frustrations confronting the two. I was really impressed with the acting.
I had my 10 and 9 year old with me and although they may not have understood many of the metaphors and symbolism they loved it and I felt that it was very age appropriate for them to watch.
When the movie was over my kids embraced me and we stood there for about 5 minutes hugging.
I think as parents protecting our children is always a high priority and although we are not protecting them from creatures out of this world, we do make decisions that will hopefully help them have long and healthy lives.
I give this movie a high family rating. I loved it. Check it out and let me know your thoughts.
