What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up? [Infographic]

When you look at your little Johnny or Susie, it's hard to imagine them ever being concerned with a career. But, be that as it may, they will have to face the deep dark question of, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Most kids, when posed this question, usually answer with the usual fireman, doctor, veterinarian, pro-athlete, etc. What most of the kids don’t know, however, is what it actually takes to achieve such a goal.

Did you know that on average, doctors have 8 years of school and a 2 year internship/residency to complete before they can actually be a full fledged M.D.? The same goes for those aspiring to be a veterinarian. Or, how about those kids that want to be a pilot? Flying planes seems super cool, especially to little boys. They aren’t always aware on how much training is involved, though. To be a pilot, one must complete 4 years of college, in addition to flight school. Flight school alone can cost anywhere from $40 – $60,000. Talk about breaking the bank!

The point is to educate your children. Dreams are great, but there is definitely a cost to obtaining them. If the “juice is worth the squeeze”, as they say, then it will more than likely be the correct career path for you.
