What Do Athletes Sleep On?

Athletes know what it’s like to put a toll on their bodies. By nature of their sport, they push themselves to the physical brink when they’re training and performing in order to rebuild themselves to be faster, stronger, and more agile. But as a result, an athlete’s body needs time to repair correctly and heal itself. It’s impossible for an athlete to enhance their body if they aren’t getting enough rest at night. On top of that, there are even sleep options out there that can help alleviate the injuries, strains, and pains after a long practice or an important game.

How Memory Foam Mattresses Change the Lives of Athletes

The researchers and engineers who developed Memory Foam mattresses and mattress toppers have studies how athletes can benefit from sleeping on Memory Foam. Using a group of twenty eight collegiate athletes and a control group of the same size and demographic, they were able to see some surprising trends. Each group was asked to sleep on a mattress topper, either made of Memory Foam in the experimental group or urethane foam in the control group, for a total of two weeks and record their results.

Of the twenty eight volunteers who used a Memory Foam pad, twenty three reported a significant decrease in the time it took them to fall asleep. Not only that, but they were able to stay asleep throughout the night without waking up, tossing and turning.

Getting a full night’s sleep, without getting up periodically throughout the night, resulted in noticeable energy changes for the experimental group. The volunteers who used the Memory Foam pads woke up feeling more refreshed and with more athletic energy during the day.

This study found that Memory Foam was able to offer these athletes a better night’s sleep and a level of sleep that was more healing than they were used to. In many cases, Memory Foam can help aid with sleep conditions like snoring, sleep walking, insomnia, sleep apathy, and more. Additionally, the athletes noticed that their physical pains were alleviated faster than they had ever experienced. Memory Foam is able to minimize pain in the back, neck, knees, shoulders, hip, and abdomen.

These results are a product of Memory Foam eliminating up to 87% of gravitational forces. Having been developed by NASA, Memory Foam products almost give a sensation of weightlessness and removes gravitational pressure from the neck, spine, and hips.

Memory Foam mattresses and mattress toppers can clearly be a great help in falling asleep fast, staying asleep, and alleviating aches and pains– not just for athletes, but for any user.
