It’s been nearly 7 years since the Xbox 360 was released and rumours are heating up as to the next generation of consoles. The Wii U is currently scheduled for a Christmas release this year, causing some to speculate Sony and Microsoft won’t be far behind.
This infographic by Ladbrokes deals with the current rumours hounding the release of Microsoft and Sony’s next generation consoles. Interestingly, it seems that Sony is pursuing the loss-leading model (at a predicted $1000 per console) once again, aiming to recover the development costs in license fees on the titles released.
More interestingly, it’s been suggested that ‘always online’ will be introduced; is a more aggressive version of PC’s Steam the best way for them to kill the used games market?
Good business sense, or the quickest way to shoot themselves in the foot?
