UpStart Sacramento – Helping Entrepreneurs Succeed

I recently had the pleasure of chatting with a business colleague of mine about a new venture he has embarked on.

Geoff Sakala is, by all accounts, a serial entrepreneur. He has established himself as a progressive digital strategist and thought leader in the hyperlocal and network marketing industries. He recently launched a new organization called UpStart Sacramento which is focused on providing entrepreneurs and investors a means to connect, collaborate and grow startups in the Sacramento region.

This is a focus that is near and dear to my heart as well, so kudos to Geoff for having the initiative to move forward with this effort.

Along with the networking and collaboration efforts, UpStart Sacramento is planning a number of Venture Out events. Think way beyond a standard TweetUp or MeetUp when you hear the term Venture Out – instead think, high quality networking, learning and mentoring opportunities.

The first Venture Out is already on the calendar, scheduled for September 12th at the Historic Tower Theater in downtown Sacramento and, according to Geoff, “…We’ll be doing plenty of networking and also sharing a unique experience together by screening two insightful and thought-provoking movies.”

The first movie is Something Ventured. A documentary chronicling the founding and growth of Venture Capital from the eyes of early VC’s and Entrepreneurs.

The second movie is Steve Jobs – The Lost Interview. This is an hour long interview with the legendary founder of Apple never before seen, until now.

Also, attendees of Venture Out are encouraged to download the Bizzabo app for their iPhone (sorry Android users). Bizzabo is a free app that allows you to network and engage with attendees at conferences and events.
