Jelly Bean Art: Kina Grannis' Tasty "In Your Arms" Music Video 1
I am a “Kinerd”

My fiance and I have very different taste in music.  Sure, there are overlaps, but for the most part, he's a punk rock fiend and I like (what he calls) “Middle of the Road” music; or even better, “Butt Rock.”  So when he agreed to go to a Kina Grannis concert with me only one month after we had started dating, I knew he loved me.

Grannis is a Japanese-American singer/songwriter from southern California.  But she's far from the vapid OC scene.  With a Summa Cum Laude in psychology from USC, she took the unlikely route of producing YouTube videos with cover songs and her original music.  After winning the Doritios Crash the Super Bowl contest, she was offered a record deal from Interscope records, which she later declined to pursue an independent music career.

I am happy to say I've met this petite, young artist who, despite her global success, still remained humble, and even still a bit surprised at her good luck in music.  Luck may have given her a chance, but she definitely has the talent to back it up!

Similar to Colbie Caillat's laid back style, Kina's songs are clean, simple, and from the heart.  In Your Arms is just one of her songs that doesn't have a complex melody, but it's full of simple contentment and happiness.

Staying true to her artistic motivations, Kina's music videos have been like snippets from an indie film.  Her new music video, In Your Arms has over 3.7 million views in just one month.  Constructed entirely using Jelly Beans, this project took 22 months, 1,357 hours, 30 people, two ladders, one still camera, and… 288,000 Jelly Beans.  According to director of the video, Greg Jardin, each scene of the video would range between five minutes and three hours to set up and shoot.  The end result: an amazingly imaginative video unlike any I've seen before.

I invite to listen to the song below and become Kinerd like me!
