I wrote up a Review of Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Server a few weeks ago. As stated, I prefer to work on Server versus Client. In case you dove into Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Server and have decided that it is not for you, you can actually disable it.
In order to disable Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Server follow these simple steps:
- Open Server.app
- Click on your server name under ‘Hardware’. See the Image Below for an example.
- Click on ‘Services’
- Uncheck ‘Dedicate system resources to server services’. You will see the image below.
- Once you restart Server will be disabled and it will effectively be a client version.
Just a note, I have not tried this myself as I use my server for development. But for those who do not wish to use Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Server this would be a great way to disable Lion Server without doing a fresh re-install of Lion.
