Paul Vasquez. I met him once, and that was all it took for me to understand his love of life, family and all things decent.
Who is Paul Vasquez? Internet meme type folk know him as the Double Rainbow guy. He lives in Yosemite National Park, and captured a double rainbow one day and broke down emotionally. It was simple, but it was 100% genuine, which is what resonates with people – and with that, Paul Vasquez became an overnight internet celebrity.
I had the pleasure of meeting him at the Mashable Awards party last year at CES in Las Vegas, we talked, took pictures, had drinks, and shared a few hugs. Yeah, it was all good…(check out my post here where I wrote about that experience).
Paul is back in the forefront of the internet news because he has announced he is running for President.
Using a recently released Facebook app called Votocracy, Paul is earning supporters now through Facebook “likes” – soon the candidates will be hosting primaries for every state and Washington, D.C. Ultimately, the goal is for the 51 final contestants to compete in a televised race.
For Vasquez, who is running with the campaign slogan “Emergency! Alternative Energy!”, the point of the race is less about being president and more about being heard.
[summarized from Good.is]If people could pay attention to what I’m doing then maybe they’ll have a revelation that these are the things that are important and we need to be focusing on them.
