Between brushing her “teeth with a bottle of Jack” and “tearin’ it apar-par-par-par-par-part,” Ke$ha is now dedicating efforts to support animal rights. Specifically, she is raising awareness for Canada’s legalized seal hunting. Teamed with Iggy Pop (63-year-old showbiz veteran, James Newell Osterberg, Jr.) and PETA, Ke$ha launched a global campaign against the clubbing of baby seals.
“I was lucky enough to get to watch a bunch of wild seals recently and truly fell in love with these amazing creatures… Because the babies’ fur is so soft, there are people who club and brutally kill these young animals. The Canadian seal slaughter is barbaric and archaic,” Ke$ha gushed in a statement. She hopes to use her influence in pop culture to instigate a call to action for her fans. “My music and my fans are part of a movement of youth taking over the world with positive change.”
Both stars are encouraging their fans to join their anti-seal hunt campaign by writing protest letters to Canada’s Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
As reported by US Magazine.com, popular Canadian stars such as Sarah McLachlan, Bryan Adams, Pamela Anderson, and Ryan Reynolds have also publicly supported this cause.
This goes to show there is no such thing as two-dimensional people. Despite the criticisms Ke$ha consistently receives for her fashion sense and musical talent, this is one worthwhile cause where her fame will definitely lend some attention to.
