In between blocking shots, slam dunking over some poor defender, and practicing his free throws, Shaquille O’Neal has become a recognizable fixture within the entertainment scene. The Shaq vs. series is definitely just the tip of the entertainment iceberg for the big man in the middle for the Celtics.
That being said, last night, Shaq had some conducting to do…he put on his coat and tails and went over to conduct the Boston Pops Orchestra and the Tanglewood Festival Chorus at Symphony Hall in Boston.
Shaq conducted performances of “Sleigh Ride” and “We Are the Champions” at the show.
In an interview with ESPN, Shaq said, “…Heather [Celtics PR director Heather Walker] asked me if I wanted to conduct the orchestra…” “I was like, ‘Seriously, like a real orchestra?'”
“I have a whole new respect for conductors,” Shaq said before the show started. “I went through a rehearsal today, and my arms are shot right now.”
