Kevin Rose Responds About New Digg 1Digg users – how has the New Digg experience been for you in the past few days? If you're not completely sold on the new look, feel and experience – CEO Kevin Rose (@kevinrose) hears you.

In a post on his personal blog yesterday, entitled: Digg v4: release, iterate, repeat, Rose opens up to his understanding of our displeasure and sheds some light on what's coming in a future (like in a week) release.

Here is an excerpt from that post:

Q: The upcoming section is gone.
A: Out of 200+ Million pageviews in July, only 0.4% was from upcoming (yes, that's less than 1/2 of a percent). I definitely see the fun behind wanting to see stories just before they jump, so we'll add a view of upcoming popular stories soon.

Q: Mainstream outlets and power users have been given more power over the front page.
A: All diggs are still equal, nothing has changed there. Our directory of recommended users will eventually open to the entire world. We will sort users, not on popularity (followers), but based on how good you are at finding/digging content (similar to wefollow.com). This will remove the popularity contest and put the focus on quality diggers.

Q: The default homepage is now “My News” and cannot be changed.
A: Makes sense, we'll add this setting.

Q: All your favorites have been deleted
A: Our fault, we'll add these to your “saved stories” section.

Q: All usernames are now lower-case.
A: We'll fix this.

Q: The RSS feeds no longer work.
A: This is a bug, we'll fix this.

Q: All third-party tools are now broken.
A: This is a bug, hope to have this fixed soon.

It's atleast refreshing to hear that the company is working on these issues – the RSS feeds problem is the big hot button for me, since there was/is the promise of having blog posts auto-submitted to Digg and right now it just does not work.

Kevin Rose Responds About New Digg 2Also, within the comment section of this post, Kevin points us to a preview of what the new official Digg buttons will probably look like in the very near future (see to right):

What are your thoughts / experiences? Are you using Digg? Do these hiccups cause you to look at other services for news aggregation?
