Speaking to the nation last night from the emotionally drained Tucson, Arizona, President Obama gave a speech where he asked everyone to channel their emotions toward the pursuit of a more perfect union, saying that “If this tragedy prompts reflection and debate — as it should — let’s make sure it’s worthy of those we have lost.”

What touched me most about Obama’s speech was that he not only talked as the President, but he also talked as a father and he mentioned each individual who lost their life, by name – very moving and, interestingly enough, drew moments of applause and cheer.

Americans are strong, we will rise from this tragic situation and band together for healing.
