Ending Racism In Sports [Infographic]

Racism has riddled sports for decades.  Despite that fact, great strides have been made.  There used to be separate leagues for different races, but now players of all races play together.

In 1902, Charles Follis became the first black professional football player.  In 1936, much to Hitler’s chagrin, Jesse Owens took home four Olympic gold medals.  In 1947, Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in baseball.  And by 1961, the Washington Redskins became the last football team in America to integrate racially.  But integration was just the first step.

The World Cup draws billions of viewers.  The 2010 FIFA World Cup was watched by nearly half of the world’s population.  So it’s no wonder that it is being used as a platform to showcase major technological advancements.
