For the past few years social media sites have been popping up everywhere, but only the good ones stand out and thrive. The infographic below presented by BestFinanceSchools highlights the five biggest internet entrepreneurs of 2012, and it's no surprise that many of them are behind some of the most beloved social media sites.
Ben Silbermann and Paul Sciarra launched Pinterest in March 2010. Four months after launch there were only 200 users, five months later there were 10,000. Silbermann personally wrote to the first 5,000 users with his phone number for any questions. Now that's good business!
We all know and love the photo sharing app Instagram. The app launched in October 2010 and was backed by Kevin Systrom. The app was actually born from the ashes of another app called Burbn that was more of a check-in application. Systrom realized that users were more interested in the photo sharing option and thus Instagram was born.
