All of the media you consume, whether it be through television, the internet, or your mobile device, leaves a digital footprint behind.  With this information, we are able to determine many things about both an individual and a group of people.

For instance, we know that millennials (ages 18-29), watch the least amount of television, but are the most connected to the internet.  In comparison, baby boomers (ages 55+) watch the most television, but use the least amount of data on all levels. Maybe not so surprisingly, generation X (ages 30-49) spends the most amount of time online, and, consequently, consume the most video online.

Seventy-five percent of the information in the digital universe is generated by individuals.  It took humans from the beginning of time all the way up until 2003 to create the amount of data we now create in just two days.  By 2013, we'll be creating 5 billion gigabytes worth of data every ten minutes.

To learn more about digital footprints by generation, check out this infographic from Wikibon.  Do any of these numbers surprise you?
