Human beings can be so thoughtless sometimes. The rivers of the our world are filled with our waste because we were simply too lazy and careless to dispose of rubbish properly. Over and over again, we are finding that the pollution that has built up in rivers is affecting the ecosystem. Maybe it's because we’re at the top of this ecosystem that we don’t pay attention to the damage we’re doing until it finally reaches out front door. Thankfully however, we can start to build a cleaner world and hopefully learn from our mistakes regarding pollution. Rivers are incredibly important not just to the landscape but to the wildlife. For one thing the landscape needs a fresh supply of water for the vegetation to grow thick and strong. Secondly, the animals need to feed on this vegetation to live. Thankfully there are new ways we can help our rivers to be cleaner and support us in return.

Dye in the water

In Burma there is a culture of dyeing clothes but the system is very old fashioned and not good for the rivers and lakes. What happens is dye is soaked and then washed over and over until the dye itself creates a hard layer which then remains permanent. This is a very unsafe way of dyeing clothes because they are washing the dye off in the rivers. A Japanese  company by the name of Hitachi Zosen has created a purifying technology that specifically catch catch dyes in the water and filter out clean water. Using this technology in Myanmar, Zosen has purified over 2,000 liters already. Kids growing up in this part of the world commonly see black water because it's so polluted. Hopefully with this new localized technology and better pollution education this can become a thing of the past.

Cleaning up crude

The giant underwater crude oil spill 2010 shocked the world. Millions and millions of tons of crude oil were spilled into the ocean and eventually carried ashore and into our rivers. From that point on everyone has been taking the task of removing oil from water very seriously. Using certain technologies a bulk spill device can be fitted to a river and or a dam. This can allow clear water to pass on through but stops the oil dead in its tracks. The oil stop values and coalescing media can show you how many tons of water of flowing through the device, and how many tons of oil you have captured. A system like this is likely to be placed in the waster management systems of manufacturing companies who want to limit their pollution. Sticking to environmental laws is also a key factor in why this kind of device is needed for certain facilities that use oil as a fuel. The device meets spill prevention control and counter measurements requirements.

Most of our bottled water that we buy in shops comes from fresh water rivers. The cool and clean water that we so readily drink should not be taken for granted. With these kinds of technologies we can separate oil and dyes much faster and more efficiently.
