How to Stay Healthy in Winter When You Work or Study At Home All Day

Working from home or studying for a degree online can be great in many ways – you have more freedom to manage your time, you can work or learn without distractions, and you save money. However, many at home workers or students do find that getting outdoors less than other people can start to have an effect on their health and wellbeing, especially during the winter months when there are less other reasons to get out and about.

If you are doing an online course like an online business degree or you work from home all or most of the time, here are some tips to stay healthy and happy this winter:

Keep Up Your Social Life!

When the weather is cold and the nights are dark, it can feel like all you want to do is stay in, and since you are already in doing your study for your online business administration degree or other course, or working, even getting properly dressed to go out and meet friends can feel like too much of a chore. However, it is really important to keep up your social life even in winter. Unlike people who work with others or go to a school full of people, you don’t see people in your normal day to day life, aside from those you live with, and it can be easy to miss the company and get out of touch with what is going on with the people close to you. Have a friend over to your house if you don’t want to go out, or make arrangements to have lunch or coffee with someone during the day if the dark, cold evenings don’t appeal to you, and also make use of online ways of chatting and keeping in contact with friends so you don’t become isolated.

Exercise

In summer, you generally tend to get more exercise naturally, because you spend more time outside, however in winter it can be tough. Make the most of invitations for fun things over the holiday period, and keep yourself making time for activities that are entertaining and fun rather than spending your non-work time procrastinating.
