Not Happy With Your Life? It’s Up To You To Change It
Sure, where you live and how you were brought up have a lot to do with how your life is as an adult, but nothing is ever set in stone. If you’re unhappy with any aspect of your life, you are the only one that can change it. So many people just sit around and complain, but they fail to do the one thing that could make life better- change.
Change isn’t always easy, and there are usually two different kinds of change. There is the change that happens to you whether you like it or not, like an unexpected illness or a change brought on by someone else’s actions (they die, they leave). Then there is the change that you make happen by doing things different.
How Accepting Change Helps
When people struggle with change, that is often when they fall into depression, or even develop anger issues. These mental health problems can lead to other issues, like drug use and abuse. Even when you’re going through the steps of rehab you learn that you can change things, and should change things, but you also shouldn’t seat the things you can’t change.
If you accept that change happens, even when you don’t want it to, your life will start to get better. However, you can’t just roll with the changes that naturally happen, you also need to make changes that will help better your life. Change the things that make you unhappy, whether it’s finding a new job or a new love. It might not happen overnight, but patience is a virtue.
Be The Change You Want To See
If you ever take some time to watch the documentary The Secret, you’ll learn that your thoughts turn into things. That means, if you’re always thinking you’re unhappy and you are stuck, then you always will be. But, if you be that change you want, like being happy even when you have little, then more happiness will follow.
It’s not magic, it’s basically mind over matter. There are people that live in condemned housing and eat out of trash cans that are happy with their lives, while you may have a home and money and be unhappy. Turn your frown upside down, and spend more time doing things that make you smile. Even a fake smile will become real after a while.
Don’t Ever Assume You Can’t
You’ve probably heard the old adage about assumptions, at least at some point in your life. Just don’t do it. Change can happen, even when it seriously seems like you are stuck. It’s just a matter of pushing forward, with a smile on your face, until you break free.
Even if you just start with small changes, like changing your attitude on a daily basis, more change will come. You must accept that some will be good, some will be bad, but it will all be worth it when you are happy again.
