When it comes to a dream home, it isn’t just the building or the exterior that fills your dreams with specifics, you also want the inside of your home to be perfect. You want the ideal master bedroom, and that perfect sized bathroom, and that kitchen with just the right number of cupboards, and the right amount of counter space.
You can have that, you can have the perfect living room, and you can do it all from scratch. Even if you’re not the handy carpenter type and won’t be DIYing your own built in book shelves and laying your own floor, you can still hire someone else to make your dream living room a reality.
You need to start by determining what type of floors you want. There are many options, but when it comes to a living room there are a couple basics -wood or carpeted. If you want would flooring you need to pick a type and color, and determine how easy you want it to be to do them. If you want carpeted floors it’s a matter or what type of carpet, length, color, and even whether or not you want something stain resistant.
There are a lot of decisions that go into flooring, and once you’ve decided what is perfect for your living room you can decide whether you want to do it yourself or have someone else do it. Remember, there are a lot of tools needed to properly lay a carpet!
Your Walls And Ceiling
Once you know what your floors are going to look like you can make a decision on your walls and ceiling. Again, there are numerous options, and it really all depends on what you envision for your dream living room.
If you decide to paint it all, you need to decide what color, and of course you want it to be something that goes well with your flooring or carpeting choice. Plus, do you want your ceiling a flat paint, or do you want to take the time to do some spackling?
Next it’s time to pick your furniture, which should also go well with the rest of what you’ve designed and designated in your room. Maybe match your couch, or one of the colors in it, to your accent wall. Or, maybe because you opted for wood floors you want a more country look to your home and are picking browns and turquoise. It’s all up to you.
Your couch can be the room’s focal point, and that means you’ll want everything to either match or contrast with it. Think colors opposite on the color wheel, for this. The most important thing to remember is that it is your dream and your design, so have fun.
