It’s probably a no-brainer that if you keep your app kid-friendly it will get more downloads.  Apps that are rated for everyone tend to get a bigger share of the marketplace.  But did you know you can also use targeting software to find people who would be likely to download your app?  The more people who use your app, the higher your ad revenue.  Simple, right?

Not so fast.  There are a lot of things you can do to your app to make sure it is as profitable as it can possibly be.  Tweak the location of the ads and see which one gets the most response from users.  There’s still a problem though- the metrics across different networks aren’t exactly the same.  Enter your eCPM.  Your effective cost per mille allows you to make an apples-to-apples comparison across networks of the profitability of your app.  If you aren’t optimizing your profitability you are probably leaving money on the table.
